Honesty is the Best Policy

Georgina. Notting Hill. Aged 38.

IBS isn’t something you’d willingly put on your CV is it? But it is important to recognise and address this condition. For me a particularly difficult time with IBS was during and after my divorce, this was some years ago now. Not being too keen on being single I put myself back out there on the dating scene.

Now, I’m sure ordinary people (those without IBS, in this instance) will understand the bum-clenching prospect of a new date at the best of times, so imagine what the pre-date butterflies did to someone like me?

I found the best policy was to be honest about my condition; this helped to reduce the anxiety and stress levels. Of course, an understanding man is helpful.

The point here is, don’t be ashamed or held back by your IBS. Recognise it. Manage it. But above all else, be honest about it. It was in this way I was able to reclaim my life.

As for how that particular date went? Well, I married him.
